With SXSW only days behind us The Black Atlantic already moved on to the next continent. The Chinese tour has only just begun, but this morning we received this super neat update! It involves four Dutch boys, a lady called Ella and a super big wall. Well, I guess the video speaks for itself. If you happen to be in China. The American Broadcast Society is one of the worlds biggest broadcasters and well known for their hit-series such as Desperate Housewifes, Modern Family, General Hospital, Grey’s Anatomy and – our personal favorite – LOST. Their latest series is called Off The Map, a show about seven doctors working in a remote South American village and doing all sorts of crazy stuff. With no less then 7.5 million people watching it’s safe to say this show is doing pretty, pretty good.

We’re stoked to share with you that the creators of Off The Map chose The Black Atlantic’s beautiful song ‘Reverence for Fallen Trees‘ to end episode seven with. See for yourself how things worked out!

JUE Festival. An independent urban arts and music festival in both Shanghai and Beijing that shows us a collection of alternative, creative and progressive arts and music, presented by the mighty folks of Split Works. Sounds pretty snazzy, doesn’t it?
Well, damn straight it does and that’s why we’re pleased to announce that The Black Atlantic will perform at this years Jue Fest.

For the first time The Black Atlantic is flying into a country where even Geert is considered a tall man. Google Maps told us they’re traveling a solid 5807 km. From Beijing to Shanghai to Chengdu, with a few stops in between and after. Starting in Beijing where they play at this years JUE Festival, to Wuhan and Nanjing. After Nanjing, The Black Atlantic is reaching the extremely high populated city Shanghai from where they take the plane to Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing and Chengdu.

We’ve decided to capture this very special ten-days-tour as a video-diary. If  you curious to see how China treated the boys you should attend one of The Black Atlantic shows in The Netherlands. At Vera in Groningen and Tivoli de Helling in Utrecht, we’ll be serving you the best Chinese food while you’re watching this tour-diary (and of course they will be playing some tunes for you as well).

Wow. Could the new year have started any better for the boys of The Black Atlantic? Wait, let us answer that for you: No way José!

Besides being invited to perform at the brilliant Eurosonic / Noorderslag, Europe’s biggest showcase festival, the band got to perform on national (live) tv during ‘De Wereld Draait Door‘ with 2 million viewers watching. Check out the two vids below and be sure to have some tissues nearby.

The Eurosonic showcase turned out to be one of the best performances the band ever gave and as if all that’s not enough they just signed with top-notch booking agency Belmont Bookings.

As we said. Wow. 2011, here we come!

I hope your are fine! It’s almost been over a month since we have been in touch. Lately we’ve been very busy with all sorts of things. So unfortunately or social skills have been lacking a bit. Needless to say we’ve been working our ass of for the good cause. One of the things we’ve been working on is to get our offspring’s to your side of the world and I think that it’s save to says that we did a decent job on that one.  Now for all dates, we suggest that you’ll visit the tour dates page, but to feel good about ourselves we need to brag about some of the festival dates right here. The Black Atlantic guys enjoyed some well deserved time off in America after a hectic first half of 2010 filled with touring, touring and then some more touring. Geert revisited the cabin in upstate New York with his wife and baby girl where ‘Reverence…’ was recorded. Stef went on a big hiking trip with his girl while Kim locked himself up in another cabin to work on his solo project. Doesn’t get any better then this!

drum-roll please! Uhm, well, actually a whole bunch of artists are nominated, but the good news is The Black Atlantic is one of them. ‘One of what?’, you might be thinking. One of the lucky 12 artists to be nominated for the 3voor12 Award ‘Best Dutch Album 2010′!

That’s right, their debut album ‘Reverence for Fallen Trees’ keeps doing great things and stands a chance to be picked out as a winner during the ceremony in Desmet, Amsterdam on September 9th. There’s gonna be some voting by the public as well, so we’ll be asking for your help soon enough.
