Conduits in stores now! (interview with Beep! Beep!)

A soon to be Pulizer prize winning journalist recently conducted an exclusive interview with Beep! Beep! Back Up the Truck’s founders Boudewijn & Nicolai about their labels 19th release, the self-titled album of Omaha Drone Pop formation Conduits.

First of all congratulations on the new release! Does the 19th release feel like a milestone?

Boudewijn: Thanks! I must say it really does feel a bit like we’ve reached a milestone. Not so much because of the number on the spine, but because Conduits succeeded in delivering a record that pushes the boundaries of quality of our label. We first heard the record about 9 months ago and still, it’s on high rotation in our office, car and homes.
Nicolai: So true! Sometimes, when I’m all alone at the office, I turn of all the lights, grab the record and simply sit down.
Boudewijn: Don’t be afraid to tell them what happens next.
    Nicolai: … I cry.
Boudewijn: He cries. Because of the beauty.
    Nicolai: It’s true.

So I’ve heard Conduits is a real all-star band with it’s roots in the Omaha scene.

Nicolai: We don’t believe in names. Take Paul McCartney for example. People keep praising him because he used to be a Beatle, but he’s also responsible for that song ‘Hope of Deliverance‘. Personally I prefer choking on my own vomit.
Boudewijn: Ehm… Nicolai, we are losing Beatle fans here! Think commercially.
Nicolai: Anyway, we only care for masterpieces and Conduits just made one. Yes the band consists of members from The Good Life, Eagle Seagull, Son Ambulance, Neva Dinova, Cursive, and The Golden Age, but this album doesn’t refer to any of their other bands. Their music could be described as drone pop with a hint of shoegaze, but that still doesn’t do justice to their music. We’d recommend just spinning the record two or three times. We’re pretty sure that you’ll get hooked.
Boudewijn: That is if you have a taste in good music of course.
Nicolai: Yes, we don’t sell that. Only the record. It’s a bring you’re own good taste in music party at Beep! Beep! HQ

From what I’ve heard the music of Conduits does sound like it would make a great live experience.

Boudewijn: You should check the live session they did for ‘Love Drunk’. It’s really some amazing live footage that you can add to this interview if you like.

    That would be great!

Nicolai: It is! We are also working on a European tour that should happen somewhere in November. First the band will tour the US for an entire month with Cursive and Cymbals Eat Guitars. That tour will start on March 22nd.

So where should we buy the record?

Boudewijn: Well, you can ask for it at your local record store, but you could also just order it straight from our web shop. The vinyl version contains a free CD version of the album. If people don’t need the vinyl they can also just order the digi pack. We offer razor sharp rates!

Final question. Do people ever tell you how bad ass that label of yours is?

    Nicolai: No, never.
    Boudewijn: Nope.

Well let me tell you. I think Beep! Beep! is the coolest record label around!

Nicolai: It’s ‘Beep! Beep! Back Up the Truck’.

    Owh sorry…

    Boudewijn: It’s OK…

    Can I be your friend?

    Boudewijn: Awkward…..
Nicolai: Sure, if you buy our records.

    Cool!

Boudewijn and Nicolai: Sure thing bro.

Becoming a friend of Beep! Beep! Back Up the Truck is only one transaction away!
