Q. I love this Netlabel, can I marry you guys?
We love you too, but we’re no Netlabel. Yes, we use internet but also release all our music as hardcopies and sell ‘em in quality record stores and at shows. And believe me…we’re no marriage material, baby.

Q. What’s Beep! Beep!?
Beep! Beep! Back up the Truck is a new label, based is Utrecht, the Netherlands, concerned with the promotion and distribution of independent artists. It is the first Dutch record label to distribute the complete discography for free under a Creative Commons licence.
By using this licence all of the releases can be fully streamed and downloaded for free online, as it should be, but the main focus lies in releasing and promoting hardcopy albums wrapped up in beautiful artwork.

Also, Beep! Beep! Back up the Truck presents a monthly showcase named “Vette Analoge Shit!” with performances by must-see upcoming national and international artists.

Beep! Beep! has signed the following artists:
We vs. Death
, Embrace fire, The Walt, Kismet, Paper Tiger, the Black Atlantic, Schotel van de dag and Het Gloren.

Q. If you give away all your music for free, how do you still make a profit?
First off; we’re not here to make a profit. Any profit will be used to maintain our little organization or will go directly to our artists. But to answer your question, look at it this way:
free music on the internet = a lot more listeners, more listeners = more fans, more fans = more shows, more shows = more merch sales, more merch sales = more money for the band, money for the band = more great music for free.
Internet is our friend and free music downloads are awesome!

Q. I’m in a band, can we join?
Maybe you can. We do ask you to submit us your tunes first, of course. You can mail us a link to your mp3’s or myspace page, but lately we’ve also installed a beautifull dropbox on our frontpage where you can share your music with us puny bears. It might take us a while but we’ll definitely listen to your music and get back to you.

Also, ask yourself ‘Is Beep! Beep! the right label for us?’ We ask all of our artists to submit their complete discography as free downloads, release future albums under a Creative Commons licence and actively participate in our promotionial and organizing activities.

We’re receiving a lot submissions by Utrecht based bands, which makes sense since we share this nice little city. We do like to say though that it is not necessary for these bands to contact us. We know the local indie scene very well and will contact interesting bands ourselves.

Q. Does Beep! Beep! accept unsolicited demo material?
To be honest and not waste your time and effort, we really don’t have the time to listen to fysical unsolicited demos. Try the dropbox on the bottom of our frontpage, this will increase the chance of listening with let’s say… 15% [back to top]

Q. Can my band play in one of your Vette Analoge Shit showcases?
That would be nice. Ofcourse your music should fit into our program and we have to like it. Once again, send us your tunes and maybe we can work something out.

Q. I want to organize a Beep! Beep! Showcase in my hometown, can you guys help?
Sweet! Yes we can. Give us a call or send an email.

Q. How do I get promotional copies of new releases for my e-zine/magazine/website/radioshow?
Send us some info about your medium and your plans, and we’ll add you to our sending list.

Q. I’d like to help you guys out. Is there something I can do?
We’re sure there is. We’re particularly looking for journalists/writers to help set up a magazine. Besides that designers, photographers, filmmakers, interns, etc are all very welcome to join us. Please contact us and we’ll have a serious talk.

Q. Why do you have a donation button?
Because it was an excellent excuse to put up a horrible flash movie of a dancing bear. Besides that we heard rumours that there actually are people who donate money to sites and we want to find out if that’s true. We could use some income though, to pay for hosting costs and promotional actions.
If you enjoy our free releases and can’t be interested in buying cd’s or merch from our shop, you can think about a small donation. Don’t feel obligated though. We’ll love you no matter what.

Q. Are you guys sponsored?
Not anymore, but both Youth in Action and Gemeente Utrecht have sponsored the founding of Beep! Beep! Back up the Truck financially. If you want to sponsor us as well, in any way you like, please contact us.

Q. SHOP: Do you ship internationally?
Yes sir, we do. We do have to charge 4 euro’s for shippings within Europe and 5 for shippings worldwide. Post is expensive.

Q. SHOP: How can I pay?
We recommend using Paypal. It’s easy to use, very safe, fast and free. Plus you don’t need a creditcard. If  you have some sort of beef with Paypal you can also wire the money to our bankaccount. This takes a while though, and we don’t like checking our balance to see if the money came in yet, but if you insist….it’s your party.
