linktip: byte.fm
Working my way through the back of beyond of the internets I stumbled upon a nice musical surprise which listens to the name of byte.fm. A german radiostation with actual good taste. Best of all, they happen to know us.
Since my german is awfull I can’t tell you a lot about this station. All I’ve learned is they offer free webradio, great radioprograms and loads of streamable music.
I was glad to find out they played almost the entire Behold My Puny Bears album in one of their shows called FreeQuency, apparently only playing Creative Commons Licensed tunes.
A real treat is a show named Herz Statt Kommerz (what the hell does it mean though?). Every month they compose a compilation album with great tracks they found on the web. You’ll find songs by mogwai, sigur ros, wolf parade, delbo, sean na na, why? and loads, loads more. As I mentioned before, these guys have great taste.
For every ‘album’ they release a graphic designer creates a cd-cover, so you can download&burn the tracks to a cd, print out the artwork and voila; twelve free cd’s a year. Whether people actually do this, I don’t know, but I like the idea. Plus, the artwork looks good too.
Anyway, the august-release includes a song by our own Embrace Fire. So Check it out!
Also, take a look at some of their artwork;
