BEEP013: Alden Penner – Odes to the house

There it is! A brand new e.p. by former the Unicorns and Clues frontman Alden Penner. The recording named ‘Odes to the house‘ is Penner’s first solo effort since 2005 and documents a collection of acoustic songs written during a three month journey through Africa and the Middle East. The songs are accompanied by four videos showing the recording process of the e.p. at Dutch Design Factory ‘Pastoe’.

“The collection of songs are dedicated to the people of the world, particularly in North Africa and the Middle East, who have been expressing their desire for justice and peace in recent months, in the hopes this energy and fervour can be channeled into true and enduring emancipation from the weight of grievous oppression.”, says Alden.

Alden Penner recording and concert

Before kicking off the upcoming tour with his new formation ‘The Hidden Words’, former Clues and Unicorns singer Alden Penner will be visiting our humble town Utrecht to record a solo e.p. titled ‘Odes to the house‘. This might tickle your curiosity, and just like you we too can’t wait to see how this one pans out.

For now though we’d like to stick to the fact that on Thursday March 10th Alden will be performing a solo set in Utrecht’s brand new, soon to be legendary barista bar ‘The Village, Coffee and Music‘. Be warned; limited tickets are available. So if you want to attend this special concert and be the first to hear Aldens solo songs & see The Village we advise you to sent us an email at info (at) beepbeep.nl as soon as you can.

More information will be sent to you in reply to your reservation mail.

The recordings of ‘Odes to the house’ will be available at shows of his upcoming dates in France and the release gig in Utrecht on Thursday March 10th.

19 september | Riviere-du-Loup – L’Innocent
Zelfs de KFC heet hier PFK (Poulet Frit Kentucky). 14 september | Toronto – The Boat
‘Anna Denova to the rescue…’ Read the rest of this entry »
